[Eagle-eyed history buffs will notice that his uniform is that of a German officer, not an American one, but his accent is fully American.]

[ And while war is fascinating to a historian like Nate, it's also a devastating thought, whoever you are. ]

[ Which is a hypocritical thing to say for the guy that's always wanted to be a soldier and never could until very recently, but. Nevermind that, nobody has to know. ]

I don't know. I haven't really given thought to what happens after the war. [And now it's a moot point anyway.]

I'm a historian. I've never heard of women on the World War I front. Which isn't to say I'm calling you a liar, right, I believe you, I just don't understand how it slipped past history.

[As for why it's not in the history books, he doesn't know how to answer that.]

Well, I mean, women are not 'typical' anyway, times have changed since your time, but - gotta ask, what makes her different?

She's an Amazon. [He means that literally. He wasn't kidding when he said Diana's not typical.]

She's an Amazon, like a daughter of Gods, women-only-Themiscyra-living, cut-off-their-right-breast Greek mythological beings, Amazons?

[ First Valkyries, now Amazons. Will wonders truly ever cease? Sara would have killed to meet an Amazon. ]

Most of that, yes. Except no self-mutilation. Her mother is the queen. [So she's not just an Amazon. She's an Amazon princess.]

[ According to legend, it shouldn't even be possible. Amazons didn't take lovers or husbands - they only met guys from time to time to procreate. It was all pretty grim, Nate remembers.

Also, legend. Just like the Valkyries, but hey, he'd met one of those in person, now. And she was very hot and very scary. Seriously, Sara would fit in so well in this place. ]

Way to punch above your weight, buddy. No offense, I mean, it's punching above any guy's weight really.

It was unintentional. [Although it certainly helps that Diana is the most beautiful woman he's ever seen. Whatever happened between them hadn't been on his mind when he left Themiscyra.]

I just wanted a way off the island, and Diana insisted on coming with me. She said it was her duty to stop the war.

And while she went on to do that, she also fell for you? You must one hell of a charmer.

That was unintentional. [He's not even sure he was that charming, when it came down to it.] I was the first man she'd ever met, so that may have made a difference.
