[ When the video starts, it shows Nate sitting behind a desk, a book in his hands, feet up on the desk, boots beating the rhythm of a song in the background - if you're anywhere from his time, you may recognize Crank That, by Soulja Boy. The desk is a mess of papers and books and pens, haphazard.

Nate looks at the camera, the spine of the book in his hands reading Cadelle Through The Ages. ]

Fun fact for you, Cadelle. [ And then he looks back down at the book, reading out loud: ]

At Clementine Cadelle's funeral in 1845, her pet parrot, (that she requested in her will should attend,) had to be removed because it was swearing. It was heard using the term 'shitstick' as it sat perched on the front pew. She apparently also had a pet bear, whom did not attend the funeral.

[ He closes the book, a crooked grin on his face as he looks back up. ]

Now, if it was possible here, I'd totally go back in time just to meet her. Tell me, which historical figure would you like to meet if you had the chance?

[ In spite of himself, Derek laughs. He has to laugh. How can he not laugh at that? Sure, the guy said it happened at a funeral and if the funeral were for someone he'd known, he might not have found it as funny, but that was nearly 200 years ago in a place he's only recently started to call home.

I didn't write it, but it definitely stuck out to me. History fun facts are the best. You have no idea some of the weird stuff people have been doing through the ages.

That's such a random thing to know, is all. Hilarious. But random.

[ Derek does a lot of reading himself, but a lot of it is mythological history, although he does have a soft spot for the Civil War. Not a fact he often shares because he's got a passing interest, but not enough of one to carry on a worthy conversation. ]

His music is very interesting, and the lyrics are sometimes strange but I get the feeling he had a lot to say.

[ Opening his arms, the book still held in one hand, Nate grins. ]

A much bigger library than the one we got on the Waverider. Cadelle University library! Aka my new place of employment, while I'm here. What d'you do, by the way? Where do you work?

[ He makes a skeptical face, his belief clear in his slow headshake. ] Yeaaaaah, I dunno 'bout that. To me, they're about even. But I'll give you there are worse songs.

[ He had a feeling that was where this was going. Jax's expression turns fond before he rolls his eyes. And, of course, Nate's already digging at the history of the place. ] What's it like, other than bigger?

And I'm working as a garage. [ He shrugs lightly. Part of why judging was in quotes -- He can't blame Nate for doing what is familiar. Even if it led to huge nerdness. ] So if you ever need a mechanic ... [ Grins ] I'm your guy.

Not that I don't appreciate the trivia answers, Nate, but some of us left school for a reason.
