man this is embarrassing to admit, but i've never actually been with anyone long enough to worry about things like valentine's day.
i know that it's not a thing here. i don't think so anyway.
but um...
here's a question mostly for the ladies, but guys it's okay for you to answer too...
what's something you'd like your guy to do for you on a special occasion?
besides remembering that is. i think i've got that bit covered.

Is she into grand gestures or would she rather just some acknowledgement and a nice dinner?

she seemed to really like when i took her on a hot air balloon ride. or well, not the ride itself. but the picnic after.
a little of both? maybe?

I'm still kind of new here so I don't know what all there is to do here, but maybe reviewing some of the options to see something that you think she'd enjoy doing that you guys haven't done yet and couple it with a nice dinner or—an indoor picnic could be nice, too, if she likes picnics. It's a bit cold for a traditional one.

but i definitely want it to feel like more than an average date night.
she kind of got caught out in the blizzard that happened last month...
so even if the weather weren't chilly, i wasn't going to suggest anything wintery.
she's a workout instructor and she's always asking me to take one of her classes. but that's not romantic. ugh.
i usually ask my best friend about stuff like this...

are you seriously asking this???
why does everyone go right to 'ask the audience' when 'phone a friend' is a perfectly good option?
no subject
yes i'm asking.
are you going to answer?
no subject
also you DO realize that she can totally see this, whoever she is
i'm assuming it's a she, anyway
no subject
no guarantee that i'm going to do anything anyone suggests.
like that whole 'would you jump off a cliff if someone told you to?'
are you always this disagreeable?

weird how hard that can be for people
no subject
but that kind of response makes me wonder what kind of people you've been dealing with.
jerks clearly.

It seems like a really easy trap to fall into.

that laundry list is why my social circle is really small.
and the dating circle even smaller.
not that i've lived that college kid experience, but i understand.

you know her better than the rest of us

there's gotta be something more than a candlelit dinner, right?
i realize it's not a one size fits all thing.
but...

she likes to be cooked for
[ He'd know. ]
i can free up the apartment, and you can cook her something. just. show you've put thought into it.

Maybe that's too basic.

we spend lots of time together as it is, but maybe it'd be nice to get away from everyone and everything else.
like some kind of couple's retreat?

Where you'd go would depend on what she'd like.

but in my opinion you usually can't go wrong with food. flowers are a bit hit or miss. most people usually like something nice and creative for the day. it doesn't even have to be fancy. like if all you can afford is pizza order it shaped like a heart or something and get her favorite.
no subject
but maybe if i can swing a really nice dessert.
she does have a bit of a sweet tooth.
i'm kind of hopeless in the kitchen, but if you've got an easy to make but big on the wow suggestion, i'm listening.
no subject
there's like a bunch of different ways to do it. we did it with red velvet pudding, pound cake, and homemade strawberry whip. then we just layered it.
but you could do it with whatever kinda cake or pudding she likes.

[So helpful, Jyn.]

that's my problem too.
can you not narrow things down or?

Well ... from what I gather, this is a romantic occasion? What does she like that could be considered an appropriate gift?
Does it even have to be romantic? Can it be something that she needs?
What do you think she might want the most?
