man this is embarrassing to admit, but i've never actually been with anyone long enough to worry about things like valentine's day.

i know that it's not a thing here. i don't think so anyway.
but um...

here's a question mostly for the ladies, but guys it's okay for you to answer too...
what's something you'd like your guy to do for you on a special occasion?

besides remembering that is. i think i've got that bit covered.

I would say that I think it depends more on the girl. What kinds of things does she like?
Is she into grand gestures or would she rather just some acknowledgement and a nice dinner?

So then it sounds like you'd do best looking for something that walks the line. Don't go too overboard, because then that's overwhelming maybe. But maybe a step up from going out to dinner.

I'm still kind of new here so I don't know what all there is to do here, but maybe reviewing some of the options to see something that you think she'd enjoy doing that you guys haven't done yet and couple it with a nice dinner or—an indoor picnic could be nice, too, if she likes picnics. It's a bit cold for a traditional one.

Well, take one of her classes. It might not be romantic to you, but if she's been asking you to, then she'll be happy to see you in one. That might be a good start. You know her better than I do, but it sounds like that might be a pleasant surprise to kick off your date night?

... wait
are you seriously asking this???

why does everyone go right to 'ask the audience' when 'phone a friend' is a perfectly good option?

well, it's kind of a weird question to ask random people who don't know you or her, isn't it?

also you DO realize that she can totally see this, whoever she is
i'm assuming it's a she, anyway

i'm not disagreeable!

( no, just Offended. )

i'm just saying
if i was dating a guy long enough to expect him to take me out for valentine's day, i would hope he'd know me well enough to know i'd like something other than dinner and a movie

but if he didn't, i'd hope he'd ask my friends

( WHAT IS YOUR DAMAGE, ROBERTO??? )

you didn't say you WOULD!
that's usually a first stop

do you always insult people who are just trying to prevent you from making an idiot of yourself???

( In spite of herself, Caitlin laughs a little at that. He hadn't mentioned Zumba before and she missed it, had he? )

...um. Please don't take offense, but...do you what Zumba is...?

( If she'd realized the type of class, she might not have suggested it, but mostly because she doesn't know this guy at all and she has no idea whether it'd be a good idea. So, she attaches a video for him. )

Oh, she's right, it's a ton of fun, but...may or may not be your speed. It's basically a dance workout...

I think that was probably a demonstrative video, so they're probably professionals.
I don't know if everyone smiles. People who aren't used to being that active probably don't; it's actually really exhausting.

You could probably get away with sweatpants instead?
