( the feed opens to the view of a young blonde woman, currently seated at a bright white desk in what's unmistakably a former storage room turned office space. they hadn't exactly given her the space... but it wasn't being used, so she's commandeered it for herself. nobody's told her not to, either, so what's the harm?

she's smiling, today, pearly whites beamed into the general direction of the camera; there's a natural friendliness to her tone that makes it clear she's particularly enthusiastic about this. )

Hi, everyone. My name is Caroline Forbes, and I'm broadcasting today on behalf of Cadelle's Social Committee. If you've never heard of them, they're — well, we're, obviously — the administrative team that puts together all of the great events here in the city that we all go to, like the Match Meetings or the — ( a pause, as her gaze dips down to consult a list on her desk ) — the ball?

( rude. she can't believe she missed out on a ball. well, no matter. they'll just have to have another one. not that caroline's coffee fetching and to-do list accomplishing really gives her the power to determine the social calendar, but a girl can dream. )

Right. So, the spring Energy Festival is coming up later this month, and we're looking for volunteers to help set up and run the different booths and festival experiences. Especially from anybody tall, because we only have three ladders and these banners just won't hang themselves. Or, I guess, if you can fly, that might be helpful too...

( a snort of laughter from someone in the background, and caroline's brows furrow together in frustration for just a moment before she's right back at it, focused and determined to get to the end of her message. )

I think we need to put in a thing for this. Like, what's it called, a purchase order or something? Because I don't know how much this will cost but I'm pretty sure it's going to be way more than a latte and I am not waiting around for them to pay me back.

It's for the benefit and emotional well-being of their employees' mental health so they should pay for it. [ a beat. ] And if they won't, I will.

[gasping]

You're not paying for it. ( at least not all of it. ) We can split it. Or make a fake order. Something.

Of course, I'm not paying for it. I'm going to guilt trip my brother into paying for it. Do you know how many birthdays that dick head has missed? He owes me at least seven years worth of presents.

[ sometimes his dismissiveness comes in handy. :) ]

[gasping]

Oh. Right. ( that guy. if thea happens to think that caroline suddenly looks a little guilty... well, she's not wrong. ) Your brother's the police officer guy that has a serious case of resting bitch face, right?

[ her hands clasp dramatically in front of her. did someone film it? is there evidence? why can't she see a boomerang of this assault? thea doesn't seem... displeased. oliver is a grown ass man, he can get decked by a girl. he probably deserved it. ]

[gasping]

A bad case of mistaken identity.

( at least thea doesn't look mad. )

He looks... really weirdly like this guy who locked me in a cage and shot bullets at me. ( a beat, because that's not a weird thing to say or anything. ) Anyway... do you want to get sushi for lunch, or...?

[ is she sure it wasn't ollie because that... actually sounds like some bullshit her brother would pull.

[gasping]

( thea is a gem and caroline is lucky to have her. )

On what? ( a beat, and then: ) God, I'm so hungry...

( they should probably go. before she wants to eat somebody instead of sashimi. )

[ thea bounces up from her seat, grabbing her jacket. ]

Come on, Blondie, you're my date tonight.

[gasping]

Alright, alright, don't twist my arm.

( is she going to complain about free sushi? no, probably not. granted, it might not be free. thea could totally stick her with the check after she gorged herself on raw fish, but for some reason, caroline's pretty confident that won't happen. maybe it's the casual confidence in the way thea swings them out the doors and towards the waiting trolley... which, really, caroline is so ready to be done with. she's never missed her boring car more than here. )

I really need to get an actual car. Anything is better than this thing.

( maybe she could wish for one. ooh, magical. )
