[Eagle-eyed history buffs will notice that his uniform is that of a German officer, not an American one, but his accent is fully American.]

Was a pilot, I suppose. [Since the war's not going on here.] There's nowhere in the city looking to hire a pilot, is there?

( there's not been a lot of crime, but any city still needs a good protective force to keep things regulated. if anything, it'll give him some nine-to-five structure so he doesn't get bored. )

Are you settling in okay? To the city, I mean. You're probably new, right?

I just arrived, yes. I don't know where anything is yet, but I have this handy welcome kit. I'm sure that will be helpful, somehow. As long as there's a map in it.

There should be. ( but the city had a way, didn't it? forcing people's hands by leaving out crucial details, or "accidentally" bursting water mains to send others into cramped quarters for a few days at a time. anything to earn those coveted cuddle credits. ) If not, there's always the GPS on your phone.

( though... maybe this guy, looking like he's stepped out of a history book, might not be so familiar with what counted for modern technology here. )

It's the little button on the screen that looks like a globe.
