Modern dancing and music is still quite different from what I'm used to.

Is there anyone that is proficient enough to teach me?

[ He likes the party and club scenes even if they are much different from his own time but he knows he sticks out like a sore thumb when he's there! ]

I am from the 1930s if that clarifies things.

I'm not innately a dancer but it sounds like you have a leg up above others. Modern dance isn't all that impressive from the way it sounds.

I was not all that good compared to others but it is much different from what goes on now. Admittedly what I know doesn't really fit in.

So the objectives here are to look good and fit in?

I don't suppose but it does help doesn't it?

I suppose it doesn't. I'm not really one to care too much about appearances.

Why is that?

[ Appearances had always been perhaps a little to important to Ferdi. ]

Because I've learned to see the value of people as they are. Visuals, the superficial is just that. It seldom speaks to the actual quality of people.

[And he's blind but Matt has been trying to carry on as though it isn't so large of a detail in these parts. This is who he is. NO sight. All Murdock.]

I do suppose that is true. I must admit that I still fancy a good visual presentation.

I admit that fancy is lost on me. Everyone's got their own likes and tastes. Showing up and having a good time is the point.

It is true that it is important but some habits die hard.

I didn't have a place in mind. Do you have a favorite haunt?

The Deviant is pretty good, music wise.

Awesome! Meet you there in a half hour?

[Because that's a reasonable amount of time, generally.]

Half an hour? I should be able to make it. I wouldn't want to keep a nice lady waiting in any case.

Good. See you there. I'll be outside.

[And she will be waiting there, all dressed up and ready to dance, leaning against the wall of the building.]

[ Instead of sending another message back -- which seems a bit over the top at that point to him -- he changes into what he has managed to learn is a normal outfit to go out dancing in now. It's still a bit to the fancy side, perhaps but lacking a tie with the fitted brown slacks and light blue button up. The matching jacket is over his arm but mostly for the thought that it might be chilly later on.

As he approaches the business they decided to meet at he does catch sight of her and gives a wave. ]

Hello there. [ Well his English is rather good the German accent still is quite prevalent. ]

[She grins in return and waves right back.]

Hello to you too. I'm Malia, you're ... ?

[The username hadn't exactly cleared that up the way hers does.]

[ferdi]

[ He smiles again at the question. ]

Apologies, how rude of me. My name is Ferdi.

It's cool.

[She just wants to know who she's talking to. And then she will follow it up with taking his hand and heading into the club.]

C'mon!

[ferdi]

It's nice to meet you.

[ Ferdi says but he follows her into the club. The club is much different than the ones of his day, less smokey for one and a lot louder and back in his time he had thought they made a lot of noise but they had nothing on this newer generation. ]

[She's not that great at small talk. She's mostly there for dancing, and she won't hesitate to get to the point. And yeah, it's a little loud for her at times, but sometimes you need some loud.

She moves them right to the middle of the dance floor where there's some space, before she starts bouncing in time to the bass line.]

First you have to find the beat.

[ferdi]

[ Ferdi is usually more for formalities and talking but he lets Malia have the lead of the evening -- after all she is the one here to help him and hopefully it'll make for a fun night and a new friend.

Following her out to the dance floor and trying to make sense of the music (which at times just sounds like a cacophony of banging pans to him -- ironically that's what older people of his age used to say about the music played in clubs he frequented).

He listens carefully and watches her and well he tries to emulate what she does but it's clear it comes awkwardly and he chuckles, amused at his own expense. ]

Easier said than it is done.

[She smiles a bit at that before reaching forward for his hand and moving to stand next to him, still bouncing to the beat.]

Jump with me.

[ferdi]

[ Ferdi looked confused for a moment but only a moment. He lets her take his hand and he laughs shortly. He does start to jump with her and it feels a bit awkward and silly. Then again, quite a bit about this future world makes him feel the same, out of place and awkward.

Despite that, jumping with Malia it does start to loosen up a bit and there's a bubble of a less nervous laughter rising up. Maybe that's not what should be his reaction but nevertheless there he is. ]

[She grins when he actually starts to have fun with it and she nods before moving in front of him again, but still keeps his hand in hers.]

Once you've got the beat? You can move however you want. Anyone who judges you for it is stupid.

[Because those are the dancing rules! but once she says that she'll start to move her hips and hands along with the beat, bouncing slightly less but still keeping time with the beat.]
