i dont think its compulsory though
it just makes it easier to find something you want to do
the starter apartments are kind of small so i guess some people will want to move out

sure, if you want to tend bar or brew coffee for a living
food service is not my idea of a good time

eating food? definitely a better way to go, but I didn't exactly see that listed as an option
