Considering I used to be the mayor back home, you might think I would be better at this. Just a little rusty so bear with me.

[ background noise filters in; people coming and going, indistinct conversations, and he's already regretting trying to do this at work ]

So, Cadelle, what I'd like to offer is an invitation. There's a large number among us who are away from their loved ones and familiar settings. Some may have even considered forgetting about the holidays all together.

Which is why the police department has agreed to sponsor a Thanksgiving dinner. We're a community, we've been through...interesting things together since arriving, and we deserve a day to just enjoy each other's company and share a meal. We'll be renting out a building to accommodate however many people decide to join us.

If you'd like to volunteer, we can use help getting everything set up.

[though, granted, it'd involved a number of rounds of cooking to get through it all. but at least it'd meant fresh pancakes every time.]

Besides, why do I have to be the one to go outside in the cold first thing?

You know what else keeps you warm? Staying under your covers instead of heading out in to the cold!

I hope you're not planning on skipping family dinner, Officer Queen, because that's a much more serious crime.
