[ Reid is actually relieved she has a heartbeat at all. That the basic laws of human physiology don't just mystically disappear is a comfort. There's so many inexplicable things going on with the people he meets here, that any glimpse of normalcy is reassuring to him as something to hold onto.

The transition period is just going to be kind of rough for him as a complete normal. ]


It's alright. I'm used to people who can kill me without needing an invitation. [ That's some upbeat morbid humor right there. You basically can't work Reid's job without some black humor once in a while. He's had actual coworkers and coworkers' families killed by home invasion before, and has had to come to terms with that reality long ago. A door isn't going to save him, and whether a vampire or a human kills him makes no difference to him. He just can't live in fear that way.

The incredulity of all the supernatural elements will take some getting used to, but the creepiness? Reid is right at home with that part. He gives Caroline a slight smile. ]
